Sports & Social
There is a real determination within Whiteley Village to make the most of the opportunities that retirement offers. We are fortunate to have over 200 acres of grounds available for use by Villagers, which offer:
Attractive woodland walks
9 hole, par-3, golf course
Putting green
Bowls green
Fishing lake
Allotments
Various locations within the Village are centres for social and recreational activities. Villagers have formed a wide range of clubs and societies that take advantage of these locations.
Village Hall
This architecturally attractive hall contains a 180 seat theatre that is home to the Whiteley Amateur Dramatics Society (WADS), and also hosts a whole range of dance-based activities (Ballroom, line, sequence, tap, and Scottish) and, in the winter months, indoor bowls and putting.
The Leisure Centre
Here you will find our Therapy Pool, a fully equipped Snooker Room, and a Licensed Bar. The whist players, the handicrafts group, the Royal British Legion, and the quiz enthusiasts all use this as a base. Regular coach trips to anything from Calais, greyhound racing, or a UB40 concert, are organised from here.
Art & Education Centre
Currently in the process of relocating to larger premises, the Hobbies Hut offers a home for the artists, upholsterers, and carpenters of the Village. The new Arts and Education Centre will also provide an opportunity for our Flower Arranging tutors to offer small ‘master class’ sessions for the more advanced members.
The Guest House
For those occasions when the family visit ‘en-masse’ we operate a small guesthouse that provides functional accommodation at affordable prices.
There are also a number of clubs, such as the Theatre Goers, that thrive without the need of a base.
Computers and Internet Access
These are available in several places around the Village, together with assistance for beginners or those wishing to improve their skills.
Village Magazine
Details of many activities that take place every month can be found in "The Whiteley Villager" the village magazine that is published at the beginning of every month. Click here to view the latest issue.
