Villager Magazine – December 2015

Goodness me where has the year gone – it seems only yesterday I was puzzling over what I would put in the January magazine!

Looking back, the year has been punctuated with some lovely and indeed memorable events. Change of Chairs, The Fun Run, finishing the refurbishment project after 10 years, a blitz on the grounds with stunning results, the arrival of our new Chaplain, the joyful Village Fayre and so much more. Each of us will have our favourite and I am sure will take time to remember them with friends over the festive period.

All of this has been underpinned by a new spirit of cooperation and support emerging between the WVRC and the Trust. The results of the Residents’ Survey were a sign that together we are making progress and of course we plan to do more in shaping our future together in 2016.

October was a very busy month in the Village as the following pages will show. I would like to thank all those who provided interesting articles and poems, and especially our hardworking photographers for a large number of photographs from various events.

In this month’s magazine we have a new ‘Whiteley Futures’ page. This will be a regular feature to provide monthly updates on the planning for the future development project. See page 6 for more details.

In addition to this we also have important feedback from the recent Residents’ and Staff surveys , articles from new Reverend Julie Haworth and Keith Jowett, Pastor of the Upper Room Fellowship, as well as information a number of upcoming events (many of them Christmas related!)

Happy Reading!
